Wings of Promise is a pioneering initiative that integrates humanitarian air logistics and education to uplift orphaned and vulnerable children in Enugu and Lagos, Nigeria and the Oromia and Addis Ababa regions of Ethiopia. With ISTAT’s support, this project will:
- Use aviation routes to deliver medical and educational supplies to hard-to-reach rural communities in Africa.
- Host aviation-themed educational workshops in Nigeria, introducing orphans and youth to future careers in aviation, engineering, and global logistics.
- Establish a sustainable bakery in Oromia, Ethiopia to feed over 1,000 children monthly—designed as a vocational training center in food technology and supply logistics.
- Fund scholarships and school materials for children of single mothers in Lagos, Nigeria—ensuring continuity in education while providing aviation-assisted outreach.
- Strengthen transcontinental partnerships by connecting U.S.-based volunteers, educators, and pilots with African partners in hands-on aviation-related service.
Why This Matters Now
In both Nigeria and Ethiopia, rural orphans and single-mother families face intersecting barriers of hunger, interrupted schooling, and inaccessibility to opportunity. With limited ground transportation options and poor infrastructure in many regions, aviation becomes more than transport—it becomes lifeline access.
Our work in Lagos has already given homes and full academic support to single mothers and their children. In Enugu, our farmland-based orphanage model empowers youth through food sustainability and dignity. In Oromia, we are ready to begin building a community bakery that both feeds and employs. In Addis Ababa, we are launching educational exchanges and aviation literacy events that will inspire the next generation of aviation leaders in Africa.
